20/1 Red Baron ready to cut a dash

Red Baron looks decent each-way value at 20/1 in the 2.10 at York today now returned to a straight track.

Eric Alston’s gelding enjoyed a terrific time in the first half of last saeson when winning four times, and also ran very well when beaten just a head in a 20-runner affair over course and distance.

He also posted a solid effort to finish runner-up to Danzeno off level weights in a conditions’ contest at Musselburgh off his current rating of 100, and the winner is now rated 113 and finished a fine third in a Group 2 at the track yesterday.

Red Baron also comes into the contest on the back of two runs, and has needed a couple of spins to put him right in the last two saesons before going in.

Although disappoiting last time out at Chester following a fine second on returnd to action, the seven-year-old has never run well at that venue or Catterick which are both sharp turning tracks.

This test is far more suitable, and from a good draw in stall 3 the front running Red Baron could prove difficult to peg back on the pick of his form.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Red Baron (20/1 bet365, Ladbrokes – BOG)
