22/1 Baracas too big to ignore

Baracas looks overpriced at 22/1 in the 3.10 at Leopardstown and makes plenty of each-way appeal with Barry Geraghty in the saddle.

Eoin Griffin’s gelding is a consistent sort and only 4lb higher than when last scoring at Fairyhouse last April where he ran on strongly to beat Sir Vincent in a competitive 16-runner affair.

He fell early last time put in an ultra hot handicap at this track, but had previous ran a stormer when finishing fourth to Brampour in a listed handicap hurdle at Ascot.

Like many Irish raiders he was done no favours by the handicapper that day, being forced to race off a 4lb higher mark (128) than he would his his native land.

However after chasing the leaders throughout and holding every chance two out he kept on well in the closing stages to be beaten 7 3/4 lengths and had some decent types in behind.

It was an effort that suggested he had a big race in him, and he is now far better treated off a mark of 123, having been rated as high as 129 in the past.

The booking of Barry Geraghty, who has partnered him five times – finishing tin the first four on four occasions and unseating in the other – also looks positive as he has an 18.75% strike rate when teaming up with the stable.

Everything looks in place for a huge run, and at the odds on offer he looks to hold solid each-way claims in a wide open contest.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Baracas (22/1 bet365 – BOG)
