25/1 Vic worth a wager at Worcester

The 3.30 at Worcester is one of the weakest selling hurdles I have seen, and at the prices on offer Loughmore Vic looks worth an each-way interest at 25/1.

The gelding hasn’t cut much ice in point-to-points and two starts back under rules for Tracey Barfoot-Saunt, but he did have bits and pieces of form when trained by James Motherway in Ireland that would give him a big shout in this of his current handicap mark if he can bounce back.

The seven-year-old shaped well on his second start in a bumper back in 2010 when fourth of 17 to Andlau and was then out of his depth in his next two starts in that sphere behind Auspicious Outlook and the very useful The Real Article.

His first run over hudels also offered little, but he then ran much better next time up when a decent 8th of 19 to White Star Line (now rated 136 over fences) at Naas in a race which has thrown up plenty of subsequent winners.

The son of Old Vic then put in his best effort on his handicap debut at Naas when a keeping on fifth of 25 to False Messenger off a mark of 95.

He now gets into this off just 80, and a repeat of that effort would give him major claims in this.

backing him obviously comes with risks attached, but this is a very poor contest lacking any real strength in depth and at the odds on offer it looks a risk worth taking.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Loughmore Vic (25/1 bet365, Ladbrokes, Stan James – BOG)
