28/1 Cloth Of Stars the each-way play in Arc

In a market dominated by Enable and Sea Of Class, Cloth Of Stars looks worth an each-way play at 28/1 in today’s Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe at Longchamp (3.05).

The Andre Fabre five year-old has won seven of his 19 starts and finished in the frame frame on nine occasions. He ran a srormer in this race 12 months ago when runner-up to Enable when staying on well after encountering trouble in running – when travelling very strongly – to be beaten 2 1/2 lengths.

Given how the race panned out and he had to concede 9lb to the filly as a result of sex and weight-for-age allowances, it was a terrific run and he now meets the winner on 6lb better terms.

That suggests so there shouldn’t really by the huge discrepency in the odds between the pair.

Although Cloth Of Stars has finsihed behind his stable companion Waldgeist – who is third favourite for this – in his last three starts, there was lots to like about the way he shaped in those last time ot in the Group 2 Prix Foy over course and distance when a staying on 2 3/4 length third following a break.

He wasn’t given a hard time that day and it looked and ideal prep run for this. His handler has also won the race a record seven times so at the odds on offer he has to be the each-way play with bookkmakers that are paying four places.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Cloth Of Stars (28/1 BetVictor, Boylesports, Coral, Ladbrokes – BOG, 1/5 odds first four)
