Aeolus looks worth an each-way punt at 28/1 in the Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood today (3.35).
Ed Walker’s charge has not won since landing the Group 3 Chipchase Stakes at Newcastle back in June 2015 but has posted some really solid efforts in defeat and can usually be relied on to run his race.
He was beaten just 1 1/2 lengths when sixth to Profitable in last year’s Group 3 Abernant Stakes and also far from disgraced when a 3 length fifth to the same rival in the Group 2 Temple Stakes at Haydock.
Aeolus also ran well when beaten just a nose by Growl in a Listed contest at Doncaster last November and now meets that rival on 6lb better terms.
He can be backed at four times the odds of that rival in this and that makes him looks value in my book.
Underfoot conditions also hold no fears and the cheekpieces go on for the first time.
Aeolus also comes into the race on the back of two soild efforts and a mark of 103 looks workable given that he has been rated as high as 111.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2ptseach-way Aeolus (28/1 bet365, BetVictor, Paddy Power, Sky Bet’- BOG)
