Malory Towers shaped as if ahead of her mark last time out and is strongly fancied at 5/1 to land the finale at Doncaster today (5.50).

The James Fanshawe trained filly has failed to trouble the judged in three maiden runs, but they have all come in decent contests.

The daughter of Giant’s Causeway led until halfway on debut at Newmarket before weakening to finish 12th fo 14 behind subsequent Oaks winner Taghrooda, and then finished eighth of 15 to Investec Derby fourth Arod at Yarmouth.

Malory Towers then shaped better than her final finishing position suggest when sixth of 10 to Criteria over 1m 4f at Kempton on her penultimate start, and the winner has developed into a useful sort who finsihed third ot Bracelet in a Group 2 contest at Royal Ascot and is now rated 105

The fifth home Vent de Force has gone on to land two handiaps and is now rated 86, and the form has a solid look to it.

It makes Malory Towers looks potentially well-treated off a mark of 67, and she certainly caught the eye on handicap debut last time out at Kempton when a fast finishing fourth of nine to High Master over 1m 3f.

The three-year-old got shuffeld back and lost her place 7f out, and was semingly struggling and going nowhere four from home as a result.

However, she then picked up really strongly when denied a clear run and switched a furlong from home, and despite still showing signs of inexperince and hanging right was gaining hand over fist at the finish.

In the end she went down by just 1 3/4 lengths, and it was a run which suggested she would appreciate the step back up to 1m 4f.

She now gets that today, and with the stiffer track expected to play to her strengths, is strongly fancied to open her account.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Malory Towers (5/1 bet365, Stan James – BOG)
