6/1 Lucky Dan worth a wager at Wolves

Lucky Dan looks to have plenty going for him in the 7.30 at Wolverhampton and rates a solid bet at 6/1.

Paul Green’s charge has been in good form of late, and has run really well on his last two starts at this venue in class 4 contests.

He finished an excellent third of 12 to Profile Star over 6f off a mark of 76 and stayed on well over the minimum trip last time up when a never nearer 2 1/4 length 5th of 12 to Waking Warrior off 75.

The handicapper has since been kind and dropped him another 1lb to 74 and that means that he is back down to his last winning mark.

That success came at this venue over 7f back in October, and significantly came in this grade (class 5).

Franny Norton, who rode him that day, is also back in the saddle and this looks the type of race where he should be able to get a good toe into the contest and come with a late run to land the spoils.

He is certainly in the right grade and back on a mark he can exploit, and it’s also interesting that connections are now fitting him with blinkers for the first time.

They could well enable the seven-year-old to break better, and if he can do so and is within striking distance rounding the home turn he is going to take some stopping over a trip which has seen him register two of his seven career successes.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Lucky Dan (6/1 Hills – BOG)
