Aimigayle looks worth siding with at 7/1 in the 4.10 at Exeter today now eased in grade from what looks an exploitable handicap mark.

Suzy Smith’s mare is a tough and genuine front runner who’s last success came at Plumpton in September 2013 where she took advantage of her lower hurdles mark to score by 2 1/4 lengths off a rating of 112.

Since then she has had just two outings, finishing third over hurdles off 119 and 8th of 9 to Monbeg Dude in a 3m 2f class 1 handicap at Cheltenham on her latest outing off a mark of 122.

The 11-year-old was sent off just 8/1 for the latter and ran better than her final placing suggests as she raced up with the pace until being headed two out and weakening approaching the last.

The handicapper has been quick to drop her 3lb to a mark of 119, and that make sher look well-treated on her back form now dropped back down into class 3 company.

Prior to her success at Plumpton, her last victory had come in a novice handicap chase at Newbury back in 2009 off a rating of 127.

She went on to finish runner-up to The Last Derby in a listed handicap chase at Ascot off 134 on her final start that year before spending 462 days on the sidelines.

However she showed that she still retained plenty of ability when runner-up to Holwood legend in the 2011 running of the Byrne Group Plate at the Cheltenham Festival off 127, and put in a number of solid efforts in 2012 to finish in the frame including an excellent fourth of 26 to Always Waining in the Topham at Aintree off 129.

That is strong form in the context of this contest, and with the drying ground and 3m trip this afternoon looking ideal she looks sure to take all the beating.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Aimigayle (7/1 bet365, Betfred, BetVictor, Boylesports, Paddy Power  – BOG)
