7/1 Ajjaad can sprint to success at Lingfield

Ajjaad looks to have plenty going for him in the 1.00 at Lingfield today and is strongly fancied at 7/1 to land the spoils.

Ted Powell’s gelding is a useful sort, as he showed last season when winning a 5f contrest on soft ground off a mark of 92 before finishing a cracking third of 16 to Prodigality in the mud at Goodwood off 92 where he was beaten just a length after getting squeezed for room as the gates opened.

He then went on to finish an excellent fifth of 21 to Jack Dexter in a class 2 contest off a mark of 93, and looked as good as ever when making a winning seasonal reapperance at Epsom back in April off a mark of 95.

The seven-year-old was then not at his best in his next two starts but bounced back to form on his penultimate start when an excellent second of 27 to Rex Imperator in the Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood off 98.

He stayed on well that day to be beaten 2 1/4 lengths and now gets into this off the same mark.

The son of Elusive Quality also wasn’t disgraced last time out when finishing 9th of 21 in the Portland at Doncaster, and has won twice over today’s course and distance.

He also has the services of Eoin Walsh in the saddle who is terrific value for his 5lb claim plus a good draw in stall 1 from where he should be able to get a good tow into the contest.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Ajjaad (7/1 bet365, Boylesports, Hills, Stan James – BOG)
