7/1 On My Own looks lovely at Lingfield

On My Own makes his eagerly awaited handicap debut in the 5.30 at Lingfield today and looks good value at 7/1 to make it a winning one.

John Hills’ colt has shaped with plenty of promise in three maiden runs and could well have got in lightly off an opening mark of 72.

The son of Rock Of Gibraltar first caught the eye on his debut at Newbury last year when trained by Marcus Tregoning and finishing fifth of 14 to subsequent Group winner Noble Mission.

He raced keenly in midfield that day before not getting a clear run when making headway two from home and weakening inside the last.

Although beaten just over 10 lengths it was an effort which suggested he had plenty of ability, and the form of the races looks strong as it has thrown up a whole host of subsequent winners.

He was then far from disgraced in a decent maiden at Chester’s May meeting when finishing 6th of 13 to Father Science, and caught the eye again on his recent comeback run at Kempton when 5th of 11 to string Theory.

That was his first run for Hills, and his first for 357 days, and after being held-up at the rear he made good late headway to finish a never nearer fifth of 11 to String Theory.

He looked badly in need of the run that day and was not knocked about whatsoever, and it would be no surprise to see him build on that and come into his own now tackling handicaps.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win On My Own (7/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
