Ulck Du Lin has become dangerously well treated and with blinkers now fitted for the first time looks worth another chance at 8/1 to take advantage and land the spoils in the 2.20 Newbury today.

Paul Nicholls’ charge won a brace of handicpas back in 2012, with his last win coming off a mark of 136 in a handicap at Ascot where he stayed on strongly to beat Nozic by 1 1/2 lengths.

He has failed to trouble the judge in seven starts since, but his handicap mark has fallen as a result and he now gets into this off 129.

That is 7lb below his last winning mark and gives him a big shout at the weights on ground that suits, especially as he has fallen a massive 17lb after being raised to 146 after his last success.

He also gets the blinkers for the first time, and judged on his recent disappointing efforts that may well spark him back to life.

If the headgear does work then there is little doubt that six-year-old is weighted to take all the beating in the hands of Nick Scholfield in what doesn’t look the strongest of Grade 2 contests

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Ulck Du Lin (8/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
