Ze King has run his best races on the polytrack surface and looks cracking value at 8/1 in the 4.30 at Lingfield today.
Chris Wall’s lightly raced five-year-old ran a stormer on seasonal reapperance last year over course and distance when a 1 3/4 length runner up to Norfolk Sky off a mark of 66, keeping on well despite having raced keenly in the early stages.
He then failed to back that up on the turf at Pontefract after a spell on the sidelines, and was then off for another 253 days before disappointing on on his comeback run at Pontefract back in April.
The gelding has clearly not been the easiest to train as he was then off the track for another 147 days before running really well to finish a 3 1/4 length runner-up to the thriving Ragged Robbin over 1m 4f at Kempton off 65.
Although he didn’t build last time out on the turf and Haydock when 8th of 16 to Light Of Asia, it looks as if he is a synthetics horse judged on his two runner-up efforts and the return to this surface is likely to see him in a far better light.
His current mark of 65 shoudl certainly not be beyond him, and with Ted Durcan in the saddle a huge run looks on the cards at a track where his handler does well with his runners.
