Big Lachie looks nicely treated on the pick of his form and worth an each-way punt at 9/1 in the 7.05 at Goodwood today.

This Mark Loughnane trained five-year-old came god at the second time of asking last season when scoring at Bath by 3/4 of a length off a mark of 64.

He backed that up with five solid runner-up efforts and after a fine 3/4 length fourth of 19 to Akbar Shah in a class 4 at Ascot got back on the scoresheet when comfortably landing a competitive 18-runner class 3 affair at Doncaster by 1/2 a length from Kenny The Captain off 75.

Big Lachie is now able to race in this lower grade class 5 affair off 71 and that gives hin leading claims from a handicapping perspective.

He also comes into the race haped nicely on seasonal reappearance when a keeping on 5 1/4 length sixth of 11 to Global Tango at Lingfield and having also ran well two starts back at Leicester when a 3 3/4 length fourth of 15 to Last Page in a class 4 off 3lb higher (74).

Wihout being nharsh, in his last run at Newmarket when ninth of 11 to Emily Goldfinch he got little assitance in the saddle from an inexpreinced rider and Gerald Mosse now takes over.

That is a big plus and Big Lachie is now in the right grade and looks weighted to run a huge race on the pick of his form.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Big Lachie (9/1 BetVictor – BOG)
