Alfred Richardson looks decent value at 8/1 in the Ripon Rowels Handicap at Ripon today (4.30).
This John Davies trained five-year-old has a decent strike rate of 28 per cent on th level habiong won six of his 21 starts and also made the frame on four occasions.
He has been lightly raced thos season and had just two starts, showing a good attitude in the first of those over course and distance when staying on strongly to beat Saisons D’or by a neck off 85.
Afred Richardson got put up 4lb for that but showed that he could be competitive off his current mark of 89 when keeping on strongly to finish a never nearer two length four of 13 to Kyle Rules at Thirsk 23 days ago.
He finsihed just a neck behind Mikmak, who had the run of the race, and now meets that rival on 5lb better terms.
Afred Richardson has also won and been placed once in three starts over CD and now gets the services in the saddle of Oisin Murhpy for the first time.
He also comes into the race fresher than all hsi rivals, so looks to have lots going for him in a wide-open contest.
