All systems go for Red Alert

Red Alert shaped well last time out following a break and makes plenty of appeal at 5/1 in the 5.45 at Chelmsford today. That run came at Kempton after 129 days on the sidelines where the Tony Carroll trained five-year-old he raced keenly and lost his place two from home before rallying strongly on the outside. He was then unable to find any extra close home but beaten just 3/4 of a length in finishing fourth of seven to Choice Encounter. The winner went into the race on the back of a success and has since run well to finish a 1 length fourth at the same venue whilst the runner-up Lost Page also ran well next time up when third at Lingfield – so that gives the form a solid look in context of this winnable looking class 4 contest. It showed that Red Alert, who looks sure to come on for that run, can be competitive of his current mark of 82 and prior to that run he had won back-to-back contests of the turf at Bath off 75 and 80. Poppy Bridgewater also gets a good tune out of Red Alert and takes off a handy 5lb with her claim – and another plus is that he is 1-1 over course and distance. So taking everything into account, Red Alert looks to have lots going for him in this.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Red Alert (5/1 Betair, Paddy Power – BOG)
