Amethyst Dawn has been given a real chance by the handicapper and looks cracking value at 10/1 to take advantage in the 4.05 at Ayr today.
Tim Easterby’s mare made all and battled on gamely to win at Thirsk off a mark of 84 back in June and is down to a rating of just 78.
That gives her a tremendous chance from a handicapping perspective, and she shaped as if ready to take advantage when an excellent close-up fourth to Iron Step at Leicester five days ago.
Up with the pace throughout that day she lost two places close home after getting checked at a vital stage and was unlucky not to finish in the money.
To me it was a highly promising effort and showed that she would be back in the winners’ enclosure sooner rather than later.
Her ability to handles today’s testing going is a major plus and she could well take some pegging back if allowed to bowl along at the head of affairs.
She is certainly no 10/1 shot in my book, and at that price represents excellent each-way value.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Amethyst Dawn (10/1 bet365, Victor Chandler – BOG)
