Andre Not Taking King For Granted In Grudge Match

Andre%20Grant%20jpgQueensbury Lightweight Andre Grant say’s he will be prepared for “anything” old foe Thomas King throws at him on Saturday April 9th, when the duo reignite their simmering rivalry in a mouth watering rematch at the Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey.

Grant and King will go head to head for the vacant QBL regional lightweight crown on the under card of the league’s first televised show on the 2016 season, and after losing his light welterweight title and perfect record back on season 5 to King, the Farnborough stylist say’s beating King will mean more to him than winning another title.

Grant was brutally relieved of his title credentials in dramatic fashion back in May 2015 when King shocked the former champion with a barrage of punches in the opening seconds of their title showdown to claim the scalp of the unbeaten champion, but after rebuilding himself after his first taste of defeat, Grant believes their second encounter will produce a very different outcome in his favour.

Talking exclusively to QBL TV Grant said, ” For me this fight is not about a title, this is a genuine grudge match as far as I’m concerned and beating King in this rematch is more important than the belt”

“In the first fight I was just far too relaxed and I probably underestimated King a bit, but after studying his previous performances all I’d ever seen him do was box so I just didn’t expect him to fly out at me like he did”

” Fair play to King for winning the first fight but this time around its going to be a different story. I’m going to be more alert, more switched on and I will be ready for anything and anyway King decides to fight when we meet on April 9th”

“Training wise I’ve been ticking over since my first round knock out win over Tyrone Raymond at the end of last year, but over the past month training has been serious and I can promise everyone fireworks this time as I’ve got a lot to prove.

Grant’s collision with King will take place on Saturday April 9th at the famous Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey on the undercard of the league’s Reisser Edge Of Glory promotion, and for ticket information log on to www.queensburyboxing.co.uk
