Anquetta is the class act in the 3.00 at Musselburgh today and is strongly fancied at 100/30 to make a winning reappearance.
Nicky Henderson’s gelding showed his ability to go well fresh when easily winning on his comeback run at Ascot last season where he beat King Edmund by 5 lengths off a mark of 130.
He went on to run a cracker in the Grand Annual at Cheltenham off 138 when fourth of 21 to Bellvano where he raced up with the pace until getting outpaced before two and and weakening out of contention approaching the last to be beaten 12 1/2 lengths.
That is strongly form in the context of this contest, and he now races off a 2lb lower mark of 136.
I think that he is more than capable of winning races of his current rating, and that first time up could well be the time to catch him.
The nine-year-old also seems to be best on right handed tracks as both his chase successes – at Sandown and Ascot – have been achieved going that way round.
Although he does have to give weight all round today, he looks well-in to me eyes in a race that looks very winnable and with Barry Geraghty in the saddle he looks sure to take all the beating.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Anquetta (100/30 Stan James – BOG)
