Golden Apollo looks weighted to go well and worth an each-way wager at 9/1 in the Coral Sprint Trophy at York today (3.15).
Tim Easterby’s four-year-old has won once and been placed once in four starts over course and distance.
He hasposted some solid efforts this season in hot contests including when fifth of 12 to Above The Rest over 7f here and when doing all his best work at the finish to be a 2 1/4 length fifth of 12 to Solar Flair at Newcastle.
Golden Apollo was also when an excellent second of 14 to stable companion Flying Pursuit over course and distance four starts starts back off a mark of 94 where he made good headway from the rear to throw down a strong challenge inside the last before being unable to find any extra close home.
The pair pulled 3 1/4 lengths clear of the field to give the form a solid look and
Golden Apollo is now 3lb better off with that rival.
He also shaped a bit better then the bare result suggests last time out when 10th of 25 in the Ayr Gold Cup from a poor low draw and his current rating of 97 is just 2lb higher than when last successful.
Golden Apollo is also now 2lb lower in the weights when a 3 3/4 length ninth of 20 to Teruntum Star in this 12 months ago so looks nicely traered on the pikc of his form – ezpecially with Ben Robinson in the saddle taking off 3lb with his claim.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Golden Apollo (9/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
