Aristocrat a Chester ace

Chester Aristocrat has been knocking on the door of late and makes plenty of appeal at 5/1 to finally open his account in the 6.50 at Chester.

Eric Alston’s charge caught the eye on his seasonal reappearance when belying his odds of 100/1 and staying on nicely to finish fourth of 14 to Born To Surprise at Doncaster over 7f, and then ran a cracker on his handicap debut when third to Twelve Strings at Haydock off a mark of 68.

The gelding ran on strongly that day to go down by just 1/2 a length, and the form looks strong as the runner-up Take Two went on to land a handicap at Bath off 67 while the fourth Warfare romped home next time out at Ascot off a mark of 74.

The selection then found 1m 1f in testing conditions against him when fourth of 11 to Priestley’s Reward at Redcar where he weakened a furlong from home before finishing a solid 5th of 14 to Annie Walker at Beverley over 7f.

He then ran a really solid race when upped to a mile at Musselbrugh last time out, where he stayed on and held every chance before being unable to find any extra close home to be beaten 1 3/4 length into third behind Hi There.

The handicapper has left him unchanged on a mark of 69, and with Jason Hart taking 7lb off his back he looks well treated for a trainer who loves having winners at the venue.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Chester Aristocrat (5/1 Sky Bet)
