Aristocrat a Chester cracker

Chester Aristocrat has been knocking on the door of late and at 4/1 rates the best bet on the card at Chester in the finale at 5.45.

Eric Alston’s charge finished fourth to one of today’s rivals Lolita Lebron last time out at this track, but nothing went right for him that day and he is strongly fancied to turn the tables.

After being badly hampered at the start he was forced to make a quick mid-race move out wide and stayed on well to be beaten 3 lengths without ever quite getting to the leaders.

He now meets the winner on 2lb better terms, and granted better luck in running that should be enough to reverse the form.

Before that run he had caught the eye on his seasonal reappearance when belying his odds of 100/1 and staying on nicely to finish fourth of 14 to Born To Surprise at Doncaster over 7f, and then ran a cracker on his handicap debut when third to Twelve Strings at Haydock off a mark of 68.

The selection then found 1m 1f  against him when fourth of 11 to Priestley’s Reward at Redcar where he weakened a furlong from home before finishing a solid 5th of 14 to Annie Walker at Beverley over 7f.

He then ran a really solid race when upped to a mile at Musselburgh  where he stayed on and held every chance before being unable to find any extra close home to be beaten 1 3/4 length into third behind Hi There.

The handicapper has now dropped her 1lb to a mark of 68, and with the drop back to 7f expected to suit this looks a golden opportunity for him to break his duck.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Chester Aristocrat (4/1 Betfred, BetVictor, Boylesports)
