Aristocrat looks ace at Musselburgh

Chester Aristocrat has some strong form to his name and at 7/1 rates the best bet on today’s Musselburgh card in the 2.20.

Eric Alston’s charge caught the eye on his seasonal reappearance when belying his odds of 100/1 and staying on nicely to finish fourth of 14 to Born To Surprise at Doncaster over 7f, and then ran a cracker on his handicap debut when third to Twelve Strings at Haydock off a mark of 68.

The gelding ran on strongly that day to go down by just 1/2 a length, and the form looks strong as the runner-up Take Two went on to land a handicap at Bath off 67 while the fourth Warfare romped home next time out at ascot off a mark of 74.

The selection then found 1m 1f in testing conditions against him when fourth of 11 to Priestley’s Rewrad at Redcar where he weakened a furlong from home before finishing a solid 5th og 14 to Annie Walker at Beverley over 7f last time up.

He made good late headway that day, suggesting that today;s trip of a mile is what he wants.

The son of Sakhi also looks like to get the strong pace he needs to be seen at his best, and off  just a 1lb higher mark than when third to Twelve Strings he looks well weighted – especially with Daryl Byrne taking 5lb off his back.

Everything looks in place for a huge run, and this looks a golden opportunity for him to final break his duck.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Chester Aristocrat (7/1 Stan James, Sky Bet)
