Arthur Mc Bride shaped well last time out and looks worth siding with at 8/1 in the 4.10 at Southwell today from what could be a handy mark.

Fergal O’Brien’s gelding had some useful bumper form to his name, including when 2 3/4 length fourth of 13 to Tea For Two at Wincaton on debut.

The winner is a very useful sort now rated 148 and Arthur Mc Bride finished 1 1/2 lengths in front of the fifth home Junction Fourteen who has gone on to score twice over hurdlees and is now rated  136.

The selection also ran well on his final start in a bumper when going down by just a head to Tea For Two at Exeter, and although he has yet to trouble the judge in four starts over hurdles he was in the process of putting in a much iumproved effort last time out when in second place and falling at the last at this venue over 2m 5f on handicap debut.

The assessor has put Arthur Mc Bride up 8lb for that run, but that still looks exploitable judged on his bumper form and the drop back to 2m today and better ground look sure to suit.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Arthur Mc Bride (8/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
