Arzal an Aintree ace

Arzal looks to jave plenty going for him in the Manifesto Novices’ Chase at Aintree today (1.40) and worth siding with at 6/1.

Harry Whittington’s gelding was a useful hurdler and won his first two starts over fences in the manner of an exciting prospect.

Arzal made all in both, jumpoing well in the main, before pulling clear to score easily.

The six-year-old then ran very well when stepped up into Grade 2 comnpany and finishing third to Ar Mad at Kempton, before posting a cracking effort last time out when a 3 1/4 length runner-up to Vaniteux in the Grade 2 Lightning Novices’ Chase at Doncaster.

Vaniteux is a very useful sort who held every chance two from home in thye Arkle at the Cheltenham Festival when unseasting his rider, and the third home Fox Noron finished third in that contest.

Shanehill, who finished 15 lenhgths behind Arzal when fourth at Doncaster, has also gone on to finish a cracking second in the RSA Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.

That gives the form a solid look, especially as Arzal was attempting to give Vaniteux 4lb.

Connectiosn have also saved Arzal for this race, and Aintree looks the ideal track for his run style.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Arzal (6/1 Boylesports, Paddy Power, Ladbrokes – BOG)
