Ayr Aces

Lucinda Russell has her team in fine form and she looks to have a good chance of landing a treble at Ayr today.

The Scottish handler moved on to 30 winners for the campaign when saddling a first and last race double at the track yesterday and runs five there this afternoon who all hold some sort of chance.

Cadore is likely to go off very short in the opener at 12.35 after a cracking hurdling debut last week when runner-up to Mica Mike at Wetherby, but from a punting perspective he represents no value.

However Hole In One in the 1.35 does make plenty of appeal at 7/2 and is definitely worth a wager after a promising third at Newcastle recently.

The mare stuck to the task really well that day in desperate conditions and seems to gradually be getting her act together over the larger obstacles.

She gets into this contest on exactly the same mark, will handle the heavy going and has the services of the very talented Campbell Gillies in the saddle in what looks a weak contest and a great opportunity for her to break her duck under rules.

The other one that I really like is Delightfully who runs in the handicap hurdle at 2.40 and looks solid value at 3/1.

The mare is a quirky sort but bounced back to form when narrowly touched off at Wetherby last week and absolutely loves heavy going.

She ploughed through the mud when scoring at Hexham last March and races of the same mark of 95 this afternoon.

That gives her a huge chance from a handicapping perspective, and with Grant Cockburn – who gave her a great ride at Wetherby – back in the saddle and taking off another 7lb she looks extremely well treated.

Everything looks in place for huge run, and at the odds on offer she looks the best bet on the card.
