Bayan weighted to take all the beating in Movember Handicap

Bayan looks on a handy mark returned to the level in the Movember Handicap at Leopardstown today (4.10) and makes plenty of appeal at 7/1.

The gelding ran well to be placed on numerous occasions on the flat last year when trained by Brian Meehan including when a 7 length third to the classy Biographer (now rated 110) in a handicap at Ffos Las on soft ground off a mark of 82.

He joined Gordon Elliott after that run and has since won a maiden at Dundalk and improved out of all recognition over hurdles.

The four-year-old has won four of his 8 starts over the obstacles and put up his best effort yet last time out in a class 2 contest at Cheltenham when a neck second to Sametegal where he would probably have won but for flattening the second last.

That run came off an official rating of 138 and if he can transfer the improvement he has shown over hurdles back to the level then he looks very well-treated in this off just 83.

The booking of Silvestre De Sousa to do the steering also catches the eye, and with underfoot conditions holding no fears he looks the one they all have to beat off just 8st 4lb.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts each-way Bayan (7/1 Stan James, Coral – BOG)
