Benefique Royale well-treated now switched back to hurdles at Sandown

Benefique Royale is on a handy mark switched back to hurdles in the 1.30 at Sandown today and looks worth siding with at 10/1 now returned to the scene of her sole career success.

Nick Williams’ mare has had a disappointing season over fences but had some solid form over the smaller obstacles back in 2013.

She finished a decent fourth fo 18 to the now 154-rated Garde Le Victoire in a novice hurdle at Warwick before going on to score in good style on handicap debut over course and distance when beating Teochew by 2 1/4 lengths in a 12-runner class 3 contest off 104.

The seven-year-old is now able to race in this lower grade class 4 affair off just 3lb higher, and taking Lizzie Kelly’s claim into account is running off her last winning mark.

It gives her every chance from a handicapping perspective, and if the return to hurdling enables Benefique Royale to refind her form then she looks capable of running a huge race from the foot of the weights on ground which shouold be ideal.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Benefique Royale (10/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
