Betting preview: Carl Frampton v Steve Molitor

Carl Frampton, the prestigious Barry McGuigan protege, takes his next step towards world glory in Belfast tonight (10pm, Live on Sky Sports 1) when he plays host to the Canadian Kid Steve Molitor.

Molitor is a classy operator who is 4-0 when facing UK opposition. He is a former 2 time world Bantamweight champion and without a doubt provides “The Jackal” with his toughest test to date.

It’s a test that I believe Frampton (pictured left) will pass with flying colours, as Molitor struggled massively last time out against the dreadfully worn Sebastien Gauthier and was beaten easily by Takalani Ndlovu the time before having previously beaten that opponent twice.

I believe that Frampton will start strong and hit Molitor at will, picking him apart and slowly breaking him down around the middle stages on the contest.

For me Frampton is the bet of the weekend and perhaps, at the prices, the best bet of the year.

Daily Sport recommended bets:

7pts Frampton to win by KO/TKO or DQ – evens Ladbrokes

2pts Frampton to win in rounds 7-12 – 13/5 Paddy Power

1pt Frampton to win in rounds 5-8  – 7/2 General
