I know two people who didn’t have as much as fun as the rest of us.
James Connelly and Dan Lerwell were in the gym over Christmas and watching what they eat as they prepared for BYB 35 in New Mexico on January 11.
James will become the sport’s pound for pound No 1 if he beats ‘Smash’ Nelson in their rematch and expect fireworks when Dan goes toe to toe with Jarome Hatch.
What a journey it’s been for both James and Dan since they joined us.
James had a troubled past and admits he was very much a lost soul before he discovered our great sport.
He was well known around Birmingham for being a scoundrel when he joined us and now James is known around the world for being one of the best combat sports fighters in the world !
His profile is sure to go through the roof when he beats ‘Smash’ in the rematch.
We are all rooting for him and Dan as well.
Dan’s story is well known.
He overcame terrible personal issues and was as low as it’s possible to be before he found us – and we are so glad he did !
Dan has been a real fans’ favourite from the first punch he threw in bareknuckle boxing.
He is one of the sport’s knockout kings and his last win was his quickest yet – it was all over in just 22 seconds !
The fight with Jarome guarantees thrills – as long as it lasts !
Anyone who has seen Jarome’s three fights with Marko Martinjak will know his fights are always dramatic.
James and Dan are flying the flag for BYB Extreme Europe in Albuquerque next month and there will be more and more opportunities for more of our fighters going forward.
Next for us over here is BYB 36 in Cardiff on February 1.
My advice is that if you want to be there, buy your tickets soon – before they sell out.
Until next time
