Newcastle play host to arch rivals Sunderland in today’s Tyen-Wear derby (1.30pm KO, Live on Sky Sports 1), and the visitors look decent value at 3/1 with Betfred and Coral to come out on top in what is always one of the most fiercely fought games of the season.

The stats reveal that Newcastle are without a win in three against Sunderland at St James Park, losing the last two 3-0.

Sunderland are unbeaten in their last five league games against the Magpies (W3, D2), winning the last three in a row.

Their manager Gus Poyet clearly knows whats tactics are required to come out on top, and his side have come through a testing run of games against Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool and managed five drwas from their their last seven games.

They have got little credit for recent efforts, and often performed far better than the end result suggests.

The Black Cats also face a Newcastle side who having been on a good winning streak have lost their last two games against Asrenal and Spurs – conceding four on both occasions.

That makes Newcastle look worth taking on at 6/5, and Sunderland haev to be the punt at 3/1 given tehir good recent record in the fixture.

Connor Wickham is always a threat going forward for Sunderland, and at 8/1 with BetVictor and Paddy Power makes plenty of appeal in the first goalscorer market.
