Black Truffle runs Kempton well and makes plenty of appeal at 15/2 in the 1.05 there today.
Mark Usher’s gelding has won two of his four starts over course and distance with the last of those successes coming three starts back off a mark of 47 where he came from off the pace in a strongly run race to beat Lucky Royale by a length.
He was then unlucky not to follow-up when enountering all sorts of traffic problems before finishing third of 10 to Hamis Al Bin at Wolverhampton off 51, and his last run when a 2 1/12 length sixth of eight to Caminet at Lingfield can be ignored as the race was a slow run affair which didn’t suit.
The five-year-old showed get the good pace he needs ot aim at in this contest with the likes of Swendab in the line-up, and off a mark of 51 remains well-treated on the pick of his form.
Indeed, prior to his last success Black Truffle had scored over course and distance off 53 in this grade and is now racing off 2lb lower.
It gives him every chance from a handicapping perspective, and having been ridden by Hayley Turner last time out is now reunited with Liam Keniry who partnered him to his last victory and has been in the plate for two is his four career successes.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Black Truffle (15/2 bet365, BetVictor, Sky Bet, William Hill – BOG)
