Joe Pyle’s first York Hall bill in 18 years

Last night saw the iconic York Hall in London’s East End play host to a well matched 8 fight card promoted by Joe Pyle. Pyle no stranger to staging BOXING show’s is now firmly back in the game promoting again in his own right.

Top of the card saw Super Welter Adam Barker take on O’Shane Clarke ovcer 8 rounds. Barker started the fight well but got dropped in the 3rd and took an 8 count from ref Lee Cook who nearly took a count himself after almost falling over Barker as he went down. This had been billed as a GRUDGE MATCH and we saw some of that animosity at when the scuffled after the n bell at the end of the 5th. Although Barker started well Clarke put the pressure on in the later rounds to take the bout 78-74 on the ref’s scorecard.

Fleet’s Derek Renfrew was held to a 38-38 draw over 4 rounds by debuntante Spencer Thomas.

Louis Adolphe outboxed a game Bulgarian in Teodor Nikolov to take their 6 rounder 60-52 on the ref’s scorecard dropping his oppo twice. Nikolov came to fight but couldn’t outwork Adolphe.

In what could be calls UPSET of the night 3 & 0 Mitchell Preedy got beat 39-38 by Ashley Bailey Dumetz over 4 rounds. A great win for Dumetz who’d lost 4 on the spin until he managed to outwork Preedy to take this bout.

Results in brief – Harry Limburn beat Andy Harris over 4 rounds 40-36, Nathaniel Wilson beat Naheem Chaudhry 40-36 in their 4 rounder, George Lamport beat seasoned journeyman William Warburton 40-36 over 4 rounds and Geraine Brown beat Bryn Wain 40-36 over 4 rounds.

Daily Sports verdict – All in all a well matched card from Joey Pyle for Nobel Art Promotions and the first of many to come.
