Jurgen Braehmer is the new European light-heavyweight champ after beating Eduard Gutknecht on points over 12 rounds last night in Berlin as earlier reported on the DAILY SPORT’s Facebook and Twitter feeds. Braehmer proved his still has something left and the judges saw it likewise giving him the bout 114-113, 116-111 and 117-110.
After the fight Braehmer said”It was a very tough fight against Eddy. I did manage to take advantage of most of my strengths, but it was difficult for me to keep focus for the whole duration of the fight.” with Gutknecht saying”I can’t complain, I should have knocked him out. I had the chance to. In the end I was too focused on the harder punches and forgot about the easy ones.”
In a real toe to toe battle rising German light-heavyweight star Robert Woge landed the left hook to top all left hooks and KO’d Hakim Zoulikha in 11th round of their IBF international title contest. Zoulikha made they count but as Woge went in for the kill he went down on one knee and the ref waved it off at 2.25 of that round.
Also in Berlin making his pro debut was British cruiserweight Deion Jumah who ended his fight in the 1st stopping Ruslan Bitarov with a body shot.
