Lady Of Burgundy shaped as if ready to strike when runner-up last time out and rates a solid bet at 100/30 to do so in the 2.40 at Wolverhampton today.
Mark Usher’s didn’t get any luck in running when beaten 2 lengths by Bernisdale over course and distance 10 days ago, where she allowed the winner first run.
After being held up at the back of the six runner field she found herself trapped on heels as she tried to make her move two from home and the winner kicked for home.
When she did eventually see daylight she picked up really well and flew down the straight to cut into the huge deficit that the winner had turning for home and finished with plenty of running left in her.
It was an effort which suggested she was ready to score a long overdue success, and she is certainly weighted to do so off her current mark of 57.
Although she only has one win to her name – when breaking the track record in a maiden at Ffos Las back in 2011 – she started life off in handicaps on a mark of 75 and has run some solid races to be placed of 72 and 65.
The latter of those runs came at Kempton last July where she chased home Trovare in a class 5 contest and she now gets into this class 6 affair off 8lb lower.
That gives her a massive chance from a handicapping perspective and another plus is that her handler seems to have his team in good form at present as his last two runners have both won.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Lady Of Burgundy (100/30 bet365 – BOG)
