Burns Night hot stuff at 4s

The unexposed Burns Night looks potentially ahead of his current handicap mark and is strongly fancied at 4/1 to land the finale at Southwell today (5.05).

Th gelding was a fair sort on the flat who has had only five starts over hurdles and put in a much improved effort on the latest of those when finishing an eye-catching second of 14 to Brass Monkey in a 2m 1f handicap at Stratford.

Held-up that day, he made good headway to from home and stayed on strongly on the run-in to be beaten just 1/2 a length.

He was gaining hand over fist at the finish and it was an effort which suggested a step up in trip to today’s 2m 3f would suit.

That was his final start for Noel Quinlan, and he has since joined the shrewd Phil Kirby who seems to have found a nice opening for him here off just 10st 5lb.

Although he has been put up 6lbs for his latest effort he remains unexposed and the form of the race looks strong in the context of this contest with the third home Mighty Clarets and fifth home Sonofagaun having both gone on to score since.

Connections have also offset the rise by putting up Adam Nichol in the saddle who claims 7lb and if building on his latest effort he looks sure take all the beating.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Burns Night (4/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
