Burtonwood a bet under Rodriquez

Now dropped back in grade and reunited with Callum Rodriguez, the well-treated
Burtonwood looks worym a bet at 8/1 in the 8.05 at Newcastle today.

Trained by Julie Camacho, this seven-year-old has won twice and been placed twice in eight starts at the venue.

He was last successful at Wolverhampton back in November when landing a 12-runner class 6 contest by 1 3/4 lengths off a mark of 62.

Prior to that he had won over course and distance off 58 and Burtonwood comes into this having run well in this grade – class 5, four starts back at Beverley when going down by just 3/4 of a length to Ginger Jam off 57.

He backed that up with a solid never nearer staying on 1/2 a length third of 13 to Atyaaf at th same venue off 58 when again doing all his best work at the finish.

Burtonwood then posted another solid effort at Beverley to finish third off 59 and wasn’t disgarced last time out over course and distance in a class 5 when a staying on never nearer 2 1/2 length eight of 14 to Tathmeen off 58.

He is now able to race in this class 6, a grade in which he has a 25 per cent strike rate, off 56 and gives him a big shout at the weights under Rodriguez who has a win/place strike rate of 50 per cent on him.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Burtonwood (8/1 bet365 – BOG)
