Miss Ferney is now dangerously well treated and looks overpriced at 12/1 in the 5.20 if bouncing back to her best.
Alan Kirtley’s mare has been badly out of form this season, but shaped as if on the way back when travelling far better than she has been in a race at Catterick.
Although eventually beaten 9 lengths by Mohawk Ridge and finishing just 6th of nine, she ran better than her finishing position suggests and is now weighted to go in again if building on that effort.
She is now down to a mark of just 50, and that’s 2lb below her last victory at Musselburgh last August where she romped home to beat Balwearie by 5 lengths.
Her previous two career victories had come off marks of 45 and 51, so she is now clearly back down to a mark from which she can be competitive again.
With Paul Pickard, who has ridden her to all her wins, taking off another 3lb there is little doubt that she is weighted to play a leading role and what is an incredibly weak looking contest.
Recommended bet: 2pts each-way Miss Ferney (12/1 Sky Bet)
