Steal some 8/11 about the Magpies

Newcastle’s record against lower-league opposition in cup competitions isn’t much to write home about, but they look a steal at 8/11 to beat Scunthorpe in tonight’s Carling Cup clash at Glanford Park (7.45pm KO, Live on Sky Sports 1).

The Magpies actually lost on their last visit to Scunny, and with their boss Alan Pardew likely to use this game to test out some of his youngsters there will be many who fancy the home side to cause a shock.

But taking everything into account it’s hard to see anything than a victory for the Toon army faithful and at 8/11 with Blue Square and Totesport they look a cracking punt.

Scunthorpe, who  were relegated from the Championship last season and have made an indifferent start to the new campaign, looks sure to battle hard and their tight pitch will hinder Newcastle.

However Newcastle will surely have too much class and come away with a victory – albeit by possibly a narrow margin.

A single goal is likely to be enough to clinch it for the visitors, so the 15/2 with Hills about a  1-0 Newcastle also looks worth an interest.
Recommended bets: 10pts win Newcastle (8/11 Blue Square, totesport)
2pts
Newcastle to win 1-0 (15/2 Hills)
