Chapellerie and Powell a decent punt at 8/1

Chapellerie has taken well to the Tapeta surface and makes plenty of appeal at 8/1 in the 4.35 at Wolverhampton today.

Brendan Powell’s mare finished an excellent 1/2 length runner-up over course and distance three starts back and duly went one better next time up, again over CD, when readily bearing Mey Blossom by 3/4 of a length off a mark of 63

The five-year-old came from off the pace to lead close home and was value for more than the winning margin.

The handicapper put her up 6lb for that success, and although she finished just seventh of 9 over course and distance off her revised mark of 69 last time out that does not tell the whole story as she blew the start completely and was looked after once it was clear she would not be winning.

I am more than prepared to put a line through that effort and treat her as if still in form, and the booking of Jenny Powell to do the steering is a big plus.

Powell is terrific value for her 5lb claim, and taking it into account Chapellerie is just 1lb higher than when last successful.

That gives her every chance at the weights on a surface which clearly suits, and at the odds on offer she looks a solid each-way play in a market dominated by Spinning Cobblers who is unproven on the surface.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Chapellerie (8/1 William Hill – BOG)
