Chef De Troupe a Summer sizzler at Market Rasen

Chef De Troupe is right at the top of his game at present, so off bottom weight looks worth siding with at 9/1 in the Summer Handicap Hurdle at Market Rasen (2.10).

This six-year-old took his time to get his act togther over the obstacles for Dr Richard Newland, but finally came good at the sixth time of aksing when scoring easily by 15 lengths in a novice handicap hurdle at Southwell off a mark of 89.

Chef De Troupe was then turned out quickly under a 7lb penalty but had no problems following-up at Uttoxeter when juming right on several ocacsions and slamming Camlad Kingfisher by 10 lengths.

He scored with tons in hand and the switch to a right handed venue looks a shrewd more given his jumping that day.

The assessor has had his say and hit the shim with a massive 14lb hike in the weights for that facile success, but Chef De Truope is clearly going the right way and I feel that this has been his long term target for some time having initially thought he might be a Fred Winter type.

Dr Newland also knows what is required to land the race having saddled a similar type in Gran Maestro to land the spoils in 2015.

So off bottom weight of 10st, Chef De Troupe looks primed to run a huge race.
