Cheltenham Festival: Smart Talk value at 7s

Smart Talk has some strong form to her name and looks cracking value at 7/1 in the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival today (4.50).

Brian Ellison’s  six-year-old has shown progressive form in winning four of her six starts over hurdles, and comes into the contest on the back off a career-best effort when landing a Grade 2 contest at Doncaster.

Smart Talk made a mistake when taking up the running three out but dug deep and found plenty and beat Lily Waugh by just over 3 lengths.

The mare win going away and the fourth home home Pass The Time  ran a stormer earlier in the week when fourth to Vroum Vroum Mag in the Grade 1 OLBG Mares’ Hurdle.

PassThe Time finished just over four lengths behind Vroom Vroom Mag, and was beaten 5 lengths by Smart Talk at Donny.

That gives the form a strong look in the contest of this Grade 2 contest, and sets a clear standard.

Smart Talk also has has plenty of experience over the obstacles comapared to red-hot favourite Limini who has had just two starts and shown a tendancy to slow up at the obstacles.

To me Limini is ludicrously short in the betting, and at the odds on offer Smart Talk has to be the play.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Smart Talk (7/1 bet363, Ladbrokes, Paddy Power – BOG, 1/4 odds 1,2,3)
