Bacardys looks worth an each-way wager at 11/1 now switched back to the smaller obstacles in the Sun Bets Stayers’ Hurdle (3.30).
Willie Mullins seven-year-old finished a staying on third in the 2016 Champion Bumper at this meeting before going on to score at Aintree.
He then developed into a very smart hurdler last season when capturing two Grade 1 contests, and had excuses when sent off the 4/1 second favourite for the Neptune here when badly hampered and pulled-up.
In the last of his Grade 1 wins at the Punchestown Festival, he stayed on dourly to wear down Finian’s Oscar by a short-head in the 2m 4f Champion Novice Hurdle with the pair pulling seven lengths clear of the field.
Bacardy’s then had his attention switched to fences at the start of thios season but clearly hasn’t taken to them judged on his two starts.
The switch back to hurdles looks a smart move and the step up to 3m looks sure to suit.
Underfoot conditions will also hold no fears and in a race which looks sure to be run at a strong gallop which will suit, Bacardys looks a fascinating contender and a big player in the pick of his form in a wide open renewal.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Bacardys (11/1 bet365 – BOG, 1/4 odds 1,2,3)
