Cheltenham Friday Tips: Flawless Escape holds major claims in Martin Pipe

Flawless Escape looks to have plenty going for him in the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle (4.50).

Trained by the in-form Gordon Elliott, the five-year-old showed a good attitute to get off the mark at the secodn time of asking over hurdles when landing a 15-runner affair at Leopardstown by a length from Jetez.

The runner-up has since finished second in a Grade 1 behind Tower Bridge, who finished fourth that day, and that gievs the form a solid look.

Flawless Escape has since finished a solid third of 16 to handicap blot Total Recall in a competitive affair at Leopardstown where he stayed on well to be beaten 3 3/4 lengths.

Delta Work, whio fisnihed a short-head behind in fourth, landed the Pertemps Final here yesterday and the fifth home A Great View who was beaten a further 19 lengths also ran a stormer to be sixth in that contest.

Altough 9lb higher in the weights, those runs suggest a revsied rating of 137 for Flawless Escape is exploitable – especially given his unexposed profile.

After just three starts over the obstacles he remains open to stacks of progress and Elliott has a good record in the race and can do little wrong at present.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Flawless Escape (7/1 generally available – use BOG firms paying 1/4 odds 1,2,3,4,5)
