Chilemba trainer this Bellew could freeze under hometown pressure

Former 2 weight world champion and trainer of Isaac Chilemba, Buddy McGirt thinks the pressure could be all too much for Scouse warrior Tony Bellew come Saturday night at the Echo Arena in Liverpool.

“I commend Tony on taking the fight with Isaac because it’s the toughest he could’ve taken,” McGrit told DAILY SPORT boxing “There are easier fights out there for him, but I love it when the best step up to face the best, respect to him for that – but Isaac is one hell of a fighter and he’ll see that on Saturday night.

“When you fight away from home there is less pressure on you, it’s all on the guy who is in front of his own crowd. Tony’s the one who has to go and impress everyone, not Isaac – there’s no pressure on him, no expectations so he can relax and do his thing. The guy that lives here has to live up to the expectations of the crowd and that can be big. It is better for us that the fight is in Liverpool rather than back in America.”

Daily Sport says – This is a tough test for Bellew but we see the fight only ending one way and that’s with a Bellew victory and a shot at the world title on the horizon.

The chief support on the night is the eagerly awaited re-match clash between local boy Derry Matthews and Manchester’s Anthony Crolla when the pair last met in Oldham in April 2012 Matthews was the victory however this time the result is going to be totally different according to Crolla’s trainer Joe Gallagher who told us”All the pressure is on Derry [Matthews] this time around and I believe Anthony [Crolla] can silence the whole of Liverpool on the night.”
