Class-dropper Storm can strike at Chepstow

Now dropped back in grade, Graphite Storm rates the standout bet on today’s card at Chepstow (3.45).

This Clive Cox trained five-year-old got back to winnings ways on his penultimate outing at Newmarket when driven out to beat This Is The Spirit by a neck in a class 4 off a mark of 83.

Although then not so good last time out when a 3 3/4 length fourth to Pattie in a class 3 at Newbury off 86, Graphite Storm didn’t get the clearest of runs and was not unduly knocked about once it was clear he would not be winning.

He looks worth another chance now droppped back into class 4 company, in which he has won once and finished a short-head runner-up in two starts, and his current rating off 86 is still 3lb lower than when previously last successful in a class 3 at Leicester.

Graphite Storm also ran well in that grade at Ascot 12 montsh ago when third off 90, so remains well-treated on the pick of his form.

He also has a 23 per cent strike rate over the 7f trip of this and it doesn’t looks a strong race for the grade.

Daily Sport recommended: 2pts win Graphite Storm (11/4 generally available – use BOG firms)
