Class-dropping Hoofalong handicapped to strike

Hoofalong caught the eye last time out and looks worth a wager in the 1.20 at Doncaster today now dropped in class.

Mick Easterby’s seven-year-old missed the break after his rider removed the blinfold late before keeping on nicely to finish a never nearer 3 1/2 length seventh of 16 to Desert Law in a class 2 contest at York.

He has since been dropped 4lb and and is able to race in this lower grade class 3 affair off a rating of 80.

That is 4lb lower than when last successful in the class 2 Scottish Sprint Cup at Musselburgh and gives Hoofalong a huge chnace at the weights.

He also has a 25 per cent strike rate in the grade and a good pilot in the saddle in the shape of Joanna Mason in this lady amateur rider’s contest.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Hoofalong (5/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
