Clear Spring has dropped to a dangerous mark and makes plenty of appeal at 9/1 in the 3.30 at Thirsk today.
John Spearings charge was last successful a Newbury 14 months ago when scoring off 97 and went on to finish a fine fourth of 14 to growl in a class 2 at Windsor off 102.
He is now able to race off 86, 11lb lower than when last victorious and his lowest rating in four years.
It gives him major claims at the weights on the pikc of his form in this class 3 contest – a grade in which he has a 20% strike rate having won twice and been placed four times from 10 starts.
Spearing also has a decent overall record at the track having saddled three winners and five placed from 18 runners and the booking of crack apprentice Lewis Edmunds to do the steering also catches the eye.
He is terrific value for his 5lb claim and 1-1 when teaming up with the yard.
From a good draw in stall 10 everything looks in place for a big run
