Cool Marble red-hot at 16/1

Cool Marble put in an eye-catching effort last time out and looks cracking value at 16/1 to take advantage of a lenient handicap mark in the 2.30 at Leicester.

The five-year-old was a useful sort as a juvenile when trained in Ireland by Dermot Weld, and showed a decent level of from in France last season which included a win in a lady riders event at Saint-Cloud.

He shaped with bags of promise on his debut in this country for Jeremy Gask when 10th of 24 (beaten just over 5 lengths) to Global Village in a competitive class 2 handicap off a mark of 85 after a lengthy lay-off where he showed plenty of pace to chase the leaders until weakening inside the last, and although he hasn’t really built on that effort he now gets into this class 4 contest off just 72.

The son of Oasis Dream showed that he was capable of winning off that rating last time out when putting in his best run since Ascot and finishing sixth of 10 to Sovereign Street in the mud at Newcastle over 6f.

After being slowly into stride he came under pressure to from home and kept on well to be beaten 5 1/4 lengths without ever really threatening to land a blow.

The step back up in trip to 7f today looks sure to suit, and if building on that he must go close in this off a career-low mark.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts each-way Cool Marble (16/1 Hills, Paddy Power – BOG)
