That makes the form look solid, and an opening mark of 74 could well underestimate Counsel’s ability.
He looks the type who will relish the step up in trip this afternoon, and having been gelded in the winter could well develop into a really useful middle distance handicapper.
His trainer is also in terrific form having saddled three winners from his last three runners, and at the odds on offer he makes plenty of appeal.
