Course specialist Rocket Rob handicapped to strike at Sandown

Rocket Rob has fallen to a dangerous mark and looks worth siding with at 13/2 to take advantage in the 2.00 at Sandown today now returned to the scene of his last success.

Willie Musson’s gelding reserves his best for the track and has won four of his nine races over course and distance.

The last of those victories came 12 months ago where he came with his cutsomary late run from off the pace to comfortably beat The Strig by 2 lengths off a mark of 75.

He went on to finish a solid fifth of 15 to Pearl Ice (beaten 2 1/4 lengths) at Doncaster off 81 and now gets into this off just 68.

That is 7lb lower than when last successful and his lowest rating since November 2008.

It gives the eight-year-old major claims at the weights, and he shaped as if he could be coming back to form last time out at Goodwood when beaten just 2 1/2 lengths and running bettre than his final finishing position of seventh of 10 to Inciting Incident suggests.

The return to this venue is a major plus, and if getting the breaks at the right time he is weighted to take all the beating.

Daily Sport recommeded bet: 3pts win Rocket Rob (13/2 bet365, Stan James, Sky Bet, William Hill – BOG)
